Located in the western Mediterranean Sea, Ibiza is part of the Balearic archipelago. Being noted for biodiversity and culture, the island is also part of the UNESCO heritage. For its fascinating architecture, the island of Ibiza is called the ”White Island”. The Carthaginians influenced the culture and traditions of the island from the beginning in 654 BC. Since then, the archipelago enthralled the cultural influence of Romans, Arabs, and Byzantines, including the followers of the hippie current. The tourists from all over the world left their influence too.

Ibiza involves 5 municipalities: San Juan Bautista, San José, Santa Eulalia de Río, Ibiza, and San Antonio Abad. The island has its capital at the city of Ibiza.

The island of Ibiza is famous in Europe for its 50 beaches with fine sand and crystal blue waters, along with over 5,000 miles of coastline.

Portal de ses Taules is another place that you can’t miss in Ibiza. With abounding cultural influences, Ibiza has an incredible architectural variety. Ses Taules Gateway (Portal de ses Taules) was built in 1587 and is the main entrance to the fortified old town of Dalt Vila. And is situated between the bastions of Santa Llúcia and Sant Joan. The city walls were built at the orders of Philip II, therefore, above the gates is the coat of its arms. The entrance is surrounded on either side by headless Roman statues.

Ibiza Cathedral or Cathedral de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves in Spanish is the main cathedral of the city of Ibiza. The cathedral is built in the 16th century, in the Catalan Gothic style. It is a very solid building with six chapels. The church was rehabilitated in the 18th century and today keeps many works of art. The recondition took place between 1715 and 1728.

If you are passionate about caving, well in the Pitiusas Islands you can visit some of the best caves. Sa Columna, where you can enjoy incredible views of the entire island and reaches heights of up to 10 meters in some places. Here were found the remains of the first settlers from Formentera. Close to Formentera, we found another cave named Sant Guillén, ideal for diving with a depth of up to 12 meters. Sant Guillén is placed in Punta Rasa.

Cueva de Can Marca is situated in the north of Ibiza, on the cliffs of Port de Sant Miquel, and is one of the most visited caves in Ibiza. The cave has amazing formations, waterfalls, and pools and is open to the public. You can enjoy a 40-minute walk-through in a natural setting with lights and sound effects.

Cala Portinax is a delightful cove with golden sand and crystal waters. Despite being very urbanized, Cala Portinax still keeps its natural beauty that’s worth a visit.

Talamanca Beach is like an insular paradise excellent for bathing and walking. Talamanca is also a great place to eat, here you can find a large variety of restaurants and bars. The beach is placed next to Ibiza Town.

A 10-minute drive from Ibiza Town is Ses Salines Beach, a beach named after the salt lakes from the south of Ibiza. Bordered by pine woods, the beach has crystal clear water and breakers for windy days. The place is ideal for body-surfing lovers.

A 3 km sandy beach near Ibiza is Playa den Bossa. The place is an excellent choice if we are talking about accommodation. Playa d’en Bossa is the longest beach on the island with beach bars and great water-sport facilities. If you are looking for fun here, you can find the Aquamar water park and Bora Bora discos.

If you are looking for a quiet holiday Santa Eularia is perfect for a family vacation. Santa Eularia is a fantastic choice with many attractions, restaurants, and shopping-addicted folks. Here you can also find some famous markets such as Las Dalias near San Carlos and Punta Arabí in Es Caná.
